IoD Director of the Year Awards - 2012
Notes for judging
These awards are for INDIVIDUALS however for all categories the judges will look favourably upon those that employ good governance, recognise corporate social responsibilities and develop themselves and their people.
All businesses and individuals should have their base or live in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The entrants should be able to demonstrate significant achievements in the last year or so - from 1 January 2011 (except for the lifetime achievement award who is selected by the judges from the Yorkshire region).
Entrepreneur of the Year
* Evidence of an original business model or perhaps exploiting a traditional market in a new way that increases income or reduces costs significantly
* Should be a sustainable business model based on profitable growth and sound funding
Business Advisor of the Year
* Evidence of what they've done for the businesses/people they've advised rather than how well they've led their own firms
* Endorsements from clients are welcomed (maximum of 4) and should be attached/truncated to CV when uploading.
Not for Profit and Voluntary sector
* This does not include private health, retirement and nursing homes and private schools unless they are registered charities
Young Director of the Year
* Must be under the age of 42 years on 31 May 2012
* Business must have been in existence for more than twelve months
Export Director of the Year
* Needs to be able to demonstrate value added
* Must have significant active engagement with export business

Lifetime Achievement (Will be drawn from the wider Yorkshire Community by the Judges)
* A sustained contribution to the Yorkshire economy over a number of years
* An involvement in the wider business and social community
Judges Special Award
* Available for significant achievement during the year in a way that doesn't fit readily into any of the other categories. Selected by the judges from all entries.
SME Director of the Year
* Overall winner under £1 million turnover who may or may not also be a category winner
Director of the Year Award (Selected by the judges from within all entries received)
* Overall winner over £1 million turnoverwho may or may not also be a category winner
